Tuesday Motivation: The virtue called independence

Independence is a requirement for leading your own life. How independent are you?

The value of independence

How can you make decisions if every action you take has to be filtered through other people first? Without independence, you can’t be the captain of your life. You must be satisfied scrubbing the decks while someone else sets the direction you’re to follow.

Independence doesn’t mean you do not need other people. Most people wouldn’t last a year stranded on an island without help from anybody. Independence means that you add at least as much value back as you take from every transaction. You don’t leave a permanent debt between you and another person.

Debt is Dependency

When you build a debt with another person, you lose your independence. If you require another person to support you, that person has power over you. They can withdraw their funding based on your actions, effectively controlling your life. Even if they are benevolent, they may unconsciously use their power to influence your decisions.

If your transactions are fair, you retain your independence. I’m not dependent on a grocery store because, if they decide not to feed me, I can take my money elsewhere. Since it is an equal trade, there is no imbalance of power.

Independence is More Than Just Money

The debt that dependency creates doesn’t just have to be in finances. You can be completely financially independent, but entirely socially and intellectually dependent on other people.

Financial independence is important.

Requiring money from other people to live isn’t ideal. Even if you are dependent on a spouse, family member or the government for an income, it shouldn’t become a permanent situation.

If everyone became financially dependent on another person, the economy would collapse. Independence isn’t just a personal virtue, it’s a moral virtue. Avoiding debts with other people makes you in control over your own life. Independence also makes you a creator instead of a user. By putting back at least as much as they are taking, independent people ensure the world stays in balance.

Financial independence, and the consequences of financial dependence are easy to understand. It doesn’t take a leap of thinking to realize that if everyone drains more money than they create, the world will collapse.

Social and intellectual independence are harder to see. But, I believe that they are even more important than financial independence. If you are financially dependent, another person has control over your body. They can decide whether you eat or starve. If you are socially or intellectually dependent, another person has control over your mind and soul.

Social Independence

Money isn’t the only currency people use. Sure, it’s the only kind you carry around in your wallet, but it is only one form of transactions. Social currency is another method of transactions. It is the currency of relationships, friendships, loyalty and service to other people.

Just as you can be financially dependent, you can be socially dependent. This means you are emotionally dependent on the opinions of the people around you. You care what other people think of you. Worse, you use their whims and biases as a foundation for making decisions on how to live your life.

Someone who is socially dependent can never be authentic. Instead they must constantly ask themselves whether what they are doing is popular or fashionable. I’m sure we both know people who fit this model. They are the people who care more about being liked than being themselves.

Independence here means the same thing it does with finances. It doesn’t mean you don’t need people and are happy living alone. It simply means that the relationship value you contribute outwards at least equals the value you take away. You aren’t dependent on the opinions of other people because you can just as easily make new friends.

The value of independence

A person who has complete social independence feels free to leave friends and relationships that demand too high a price.

Intellectual Independence

Intellectual independence is the most important form of independence. While it might not be easy, you can move from a position of social and financial dependence to one of independence. As long as you can make decisions for yourself, you can move closer towards complete independence.

Intellectual dependence happens when you stop thinking for yourself.

Intellectual independence means you are willing to experiment, explore and leave no stone unturned in the search for understanding. You don’t avoid ideas that don’t fit neatly into your worldview, you embrace them. You think through ideas yourself instead of blindly accepting pre-digested facts from other people.

Like all forms of independence, intellectual independence is both a personal and a moral question.

Independence is a Personal Virtue.

When you have independence, I believe the next step is to encourage the independence of others. Think your own thoughts, live your own life, and help others to do the same.

Good morning and a wonderful Tuesday to you. Go make it work!

Love Always… M.

Monday Motivation: Speaking life through gratitude

The effect of gratitude and power of thoughts can never be over-emphasized.

Speaking life through gratitude

It is very important for you to understand how powerful your feelings are. Sustained thoughts are powerful but thoughts with feelings have an invincible power.

In the morning, when my feet touches the ground from my bed, I say thank you. On my way to the bathroom, I say thank you. Before I touch my phone, I say thank you. I say and feel thank you as I prepare for my day – be it showering, eating, anything at all.

With that simple act, I am powerfully creating my day and all that it will contain. I am setting my frequency for the day and intentionally declaring the way I want my day to go.

Yesterday is past, Tomorrow and it’s worries are ahead. The most important part is Now, Today.

There is no more powerful way to begin your day. You are the creative director of you life so begin today by speaking what you want into action.

Intentionally create your day.

Do you know that the universe loves gratitude? As we start this fresh week, begin everyday of your life by giving thanks.

Look for things to be grateful for. Come to think of it, you don’t even have to. It’s all staring you in your face!

Begin each day with thank you and end it with thank you also.

Be grateful for all circumstances no matter what is going on around you. Trust me, it could have been worse but it isn’t. How dare you complain?!

When you live and radiate gratitude, you press the ON switch to the universe and it will deliver all good to you, matching the intensity of your gratitude.

Change your life today by changing your attitude.

Trust your weekend was worthwhile, have a great week ahead by starting your day the right way! Good morning.

Love Always… M.

Sunday Inspiration: This life will go by fast

This life will go by fast - Inspiration for the day

This life will go by fast

Don’t fight with people, don’t criticize your body so much, don’t complain so much.

Don’t lose sleep over your bills. Look for the person that makes you happy. If you make a mistake, let it go and keep seeking your happiness.

Never stop being a good parent. Don’t worry so much about buying luxuries and comforts for your home, and don’t kill yourself trying to leave an inheritance for your family. Those benefits should be earned by each person, so don’t dedicate yourself to accumulating money

Enjoy, travel, enjoy your journeys, see new places, give yourself the pleasures you deserve. Allow dogs to get closer. Don’t put away the fine glassware. Utilize the new dinnerware; don’t save your favorite perfume, use it to go out with yourself; wear out your favorite sport shoes; repeat your favourite clothes.

So what? That’s not bad. Why not now? Why not pray now instead of waiting until before you sleep? Why not call now? Why not forgive now? We wait so long for Christmas; for Friday; for Reunions; for another year; for when I have money; for love to come; when everything is perfect…look…

Everything perfect doesn’t exist. Human beings can’t accomplish this because it simply was not intended to be completed here. Here is an opportunity to learn.

So take this challenge that is life and do it now…love more, forgive more, embrace more, love more intensely and leave the rest in God’s hands. Amen.

The beautiful message above credited to the Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis is everything one needs to read. It is a gentle reminder of what life is about.

This life will go by fast - Inspiration for the day

Indeed this life will pass by quickly and all our wonderful plans will come to naught. So make good use of every living breath, live your life as if each day was your last and make great impacts, not forgetting to put everything into God’s hand.

Live, love, be happy and spread that positive energy to everyone around you.

Wishing you a fabulous Sunday and a great week ahead. Tis a time for smashing!

Love Always… M.

Friday Motivation: Your greatest enemy is your last success

The greatest enemy of your potential is your last success. You could become so proud of what you’ve already accomplished that you stop moving ahead to what you can still accomplish ~ Myles Munroe.

Maximizing your potential, be all you can be - Myles Munroe

In other words, never trust what you have achieved. There is still more where that came from. Be all you can be!

Dr. Myles Munroe explained this extensively in his book, Maximizing your potential.

He said that the greatest threat to being all you could be is satisfaction with who you are. What you can do is always endangered by what you have done.

There are millions of individuals who have buried their latent talents, gifts, and abilities in the cemetery of their last accomplishment. They have settled for less than their best. I believe that the enemy of best is good, and the strength of good is the norm. The power of the norm is the curse of our society. It seems like the world is designed to make “the norm” comfortable and “the average” respectable.

Looking back, you would notice that the individuals who made history were those who dared to challenge and exceed the accepted norm. They created their own path and lived it to the fullest. Why follow a path when you can make a trail? You’ve got Potential!

Maximizing your potential, be all you can be

Ask yourself: Have I become all that I am capable of? Have I stretched myself to the maximum? Have I done the best that I can do? Have I used my gifts, talents, and abilities to their limit? Have I maximized my potential?

God created everyone with Potential and it will be sad to let yours go to waste instead of utilizing it to do something better for yourself and humanity. Even when you eventually do, don’t get too comfortable. Always, always strive to attain more.

Take for instance, your smartphone. There are many things this little device can do for you but some people only use it to make calls, take photos, send messages and play on social media. That is equivalent to untapped potential, you’re limiting the abilities of your phone because you are comfortable with the present workings.

But what if I tell you it can do a lot more?

We humans are like that too. We limit ourselves, we get too comfortable with our realities and when we’ve managed to attain one little success. We give ourselves pat on the back and rest.

When I was much younger, I came across an unbelievable funfact about the human brain that read: The human brain cell can hold five times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica. Or any encyclopedia for that matter.

Do you know what that means? Encyclopedia the book of everything you need to know on Earth. An individual can actually have all that saved in his/her head.
Most times when something is too difficult for me and I feel lazy, I just remember that statement and it jolts me like electric shock, making me aware that I can do it.

Plus the fact that I have succeeded in one, doesn’t mean I can’t succeed in another. Maximize your potential. Don’t let your previous success be a hindrance. Don’t get too comfortable, there are so much more where that came from.

You can be More. You can always do More.

I keep saying it, you are a mini-god, act like one!

Good morning dear mini-gods and goddesses, welcome to a brand new opportunity. Let’s get it right today!

Love Always… M.

Thursday Motivation: Perseverance, the power key to success

In our instant-gratification, short attention-span, multitasking world, we’ve lost sight of one core element of high achievement.   That element is perseverance – the power key to success.
Perseverance, the power key to success
The ability to keep on keeping on, even when our efforts are met with disappointment or failure, preserverance is a unique ability that can make all the difference in the world.

It comes from being committed to your goal, and from believing in yourself and in your goal’s possibility.  It borrows strength from resilience and optimism and brushes elbows with courage along the way. It translates to having a Whatever It Takes attitude.

Listen to the story of anyone who has reached a significant goal and you’ll hear a drama about someone who had to rebound from setback after setback along the way. There’s an old adage that says you can’t defeat a man who refuses to quit, and it’s as true today as when the words were first uttered.

Whether you’re working to master a skill that will qualify you for the next step up in your profession, controllong a business, maintaining a relationship or fielding interruptions from kids while you try to finish a household task, your success often hinges on your ability to refocus on your goal again and again. To give it one more try, and then another, and another still, is to walk the path that leads to achievement.

Angela Duckworth and her colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania identified a trait they call grit; a combination of perseverance and passion, the sustained and focused application of a talent over time.  And what their research indicates is that the quality that distinguished star performers in their respective fields was not necessarily talent, but exceptional commitment to ambitions and goals.

Perhaps more than any other quality, perseverance is what gets our projects out the door, lets us master our talents, and turns dreams into living, breathing realities. You might not be where you want to be yet but perseverance gets you closer to where you want to be.

However, perseverance does more for you than to help you master a skill or complete a project. As great as those achievements are, the ability to keep on keeping on serves you in other ways as well.

It makes you trustworthy in other people’s eyes. They know you won’t quit when an obstacle comes along. It increases your sense of self-worth to take full ownership of the goal you set out to achieve. You accept that your destiny is in your own hands. Your commitment to your goal enhances its value for you and heightens your motivation.

Besides leading you  to unexpected discoveries, it also expands your knowledge, both about yourself and the field of your endeavor.

Are you still keeping on despite what life throws at you? Do you feel whether it will be worth it at the end? Are you just fed up?

If yes to the above, then what you need is to cultivate the habit of perseverance. Define your goal and commit yourself totally to it. Treat it like your baby, visualize the end product and stay on it. Develop an unwavering attitude towards achieving your ambitions, goals and dreams.

It’s hard to defeat a man who has set his mind on a particular thing.

As you step out today, re-examine yourself and avail yourself the opportunity to do it right, one more time.

Good morning people, have a great day.

Love Always… M.

Wednesday Motivation: Having a W-I-T attitude towards life

WIT meaning Whatever It Takes!

Having a whatever it takes attitude towards life

Attitude is everything and developing WIT alongside with it is only going to make you succeed in life.

Having a whatever it takes attitude is being assured of what you want to do, going ahead to do it and committing everything to see it come to life. A Whatever It Takes attitude also means being ready and willing to accept change.

We make changes and take risks althrough our lives – starting a relationship, marriage, investing in a new business, switching careers, relocating, abandoning our jobs, divorce, driving, meeting people, taking public transport – it’s all part of living and very necessary too.

News Flash: If you’re not making changes and taking risks in some aspects of your life, you are probably in a rut which is responsible for your bad attitude towards life.

When I wanted to venture into a new line of business some few years ago, I made the biggest mistake of telling my close pals about it without assuring myself first. I made strategic plans and my excitement about the whole thing made me blurt it out but somehow everyone I told pierced holes in my plan.

Ah, you will not make it. Alot of people are already into that line of business, how will you survive? How will you get customers?

These were some of the questions they plagued me with and because I had not equipped myself properly, I didn’t have a Whatever It Takes attitude. I was weak. And just like a sky candle, my business plan fizzled away.

I was not equipped mentally, physically and I was not ready to accept the risk that would come with the change. Hence, a little discouragement threw me off balance.

Having a whatever it takes attitude towards life

In 1879, Western Union said of the telephone; “This telephone has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication” but 141 years later, it’s still in use and is the most important means of communication. Why? Because the phone guys had a whatever it takes attitude, despite the bad review from a giant company.

In his book, Attitude is everything, Keith Harrell highlighted that in taking the giant leap, you have to leave many doubt and doubters behind. Make wise decisions and take risks when they offer to improve the quality of your life.

Risks are unavoidable but we have a choice about how we view changes in our life inorder to lessen the negative consequences.

Always be on the alert for change. Be ready to make the transition. See changes as opportunities not threats.

Understand that the process of change begins with examination of your conscience. Ask yourself:

Do I have what it takes? How much is it going to hurt? Will my actions produce the results I need?

When you sincerely provide answers to these, then you can go ahead with whatever you want to do.

Good morning. It’s another day to have a re-think and restructure your life in the right direction. Examine yourself and set out on that which you’ve been wanting to do. Start building yourself to have a whatever it takes attitude, it will definitely come in handy. Have a productive day.

Love Always… M.

Tuesday Motivation: How to be mentally strong

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Is everything becoming too much? Get some useful tips on how to be mentally strong to face them all.

13 ways on how to be mentally strong

Sadly  nobody is born with the ability to be mentally strong. It’s an art we learn. Either by means of past experiences or life just deals us a hard blow – the harshness of reality.

Nevertheless, being mentally strong is a necessity. Just like drinking water is essential for your body. As you build your body to be physically strong, you also have to build your brain.

What does it mean to be mentally strong?

Aurora.com defines mental strength as the ability to not complain, not waiting for someone else to pass the torch to, using failure as an appetizer for success. Mental strength also means seeing things through and then, doing it all over again and again and again.

In simpler terms, it means knowing what you want, being completely responsible for your actions and accepting the consequences that come with it. Ability to withstand anything life throws at you.

Ways to achieve that as an individual include the following:

1) Don’t fear alone time. Learn to enjoy your company.

2) Don’t dwell on the past. Nobody ever moved forward by remaining in the past. Let it go.

3) Do not feel as if the world owes you. It doesn’t, move on!

13 ways on how to be mentally strong

4) Don’t expect immediate results. Bear in mind that it is always a gradual process especially for something worthwhile.

5) Don’t worry about pleasing everyone. Do the best you can and be happy with yourself

6) Don’t waste time feeling sorry for yourself. It doesn’t help in any way and it would definitely not provide a solution.

7) Don’t waste energy on things you can’t control. Keep it going, funny enough, those things have a way of sorting themselves out.

8) Don’t let others influence your emotions. You are in charge, selectively filter what others say.

9) Dont resent other people’s success. When you’re happy for others, you’re invariably calling good things to yourself.

10) Dont shy away from responsibilities. They build you up.

11) Don’t give up after the first failure. Keep trying.

12) Don’t run away from taking calculated risks. If not, success will be very far from you.

13) Quit over-thinking. Don’t waste time worrying about what should have been, what is happening or what could happen. Accept each day as they come, one thought at a time.

All these tips listed above will help you to be mentally strong and own your territory. You would also exude confidence, more people will be attracted and more people will be willing to associate with you because it sets you apart.

And for those of us who are already mentally strong, a re-examination will probably make you better at the game.

Such a wonderful Tuesday to be alive, don’t waste it on mediocrity. Be you, be great. Good morning people.

Love Always… M.

Monday Motivation: Good things come to those who hustle

Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle ~ Abraham Lincoln.

Motivation: Good things come to those who hustle

For me, that is equal to nothing because you will be living off another man’s leftovers. Eeew, how unfulfilling can that be?!

That is why you have to stop lazying about and get to work now. The problem with most of us is that we think we have time but the occurrences in life should already prove otherwise to you. There is no time!

Even if you think that there is time, it waits for nobody. Time is the most fleeting thing in existence, the earlier you realize that, the earlier you stop wasting your time and get busy.

Besides the fleeting time, there are other factors like your age, health, environment. As you grow older, your overall body health depreciates. So why spend the better part of your productive years being idle?

The game has change, there is no ‘fattest bone’ for the patient dog anymore.
Yo’ve got to set the pace for others to follow. Make your name known and create an impact irrespective of fear or other inhibitions you may be nurturing.

Good thing, the sky is big enough for everyone to shine in it.

Don’t put off today what you can do actually do today.

Motivation: Good things come to those who hustle

I once had the opportunity to go for a clearance sale. You know how rough and crowded those sales can always be. Who doesn’t like discounts? So I got to the place very early (in order to get the best of the items), but other people also planned to be early birds so imagine my shock already seeing a sizeable crowd which grew while we were still waiting for shop owners to come.

Finally, they did and opened the doors but somehow, I fidgeted and thought ‘oh, why not wait till the crowd reduce, then you shop in peace’. But guess what, when that happened, I shopped in peace alright but I was buying nothing.

All the good stuff had already been snatched off by the hustlers. I, who was waiting for a convenient time ended up with leftovers. You get the drift now?

So choose where you want to belong today. Are you the waiter or the grabber?

It’s Monday people, the beginning of a new week. Time to set those goals in motion and right what you have been doing wrong.

Remember, the aim is not to be the first but to stand out and be the best! Top of the morning to you all.

Love Always… M.

Sunday Inspiration: Be Strong for I am with you

God’s promises…

www.hangingwithmay.com

How do you see God?

When you think about God, what comes to mind?

Do you ever feel him talking to you?

In the days of old, God spoke to his people directly. He appeared in different forms though; some in the dream, some in natural occurrence like the gentle breeze and burning bush. Some in visions or hallucinations.

And thus, He spoke to Joshua following the death of Moses, commanding him to leave the land he is familiar with, take over from where Moses stopped and lead his people.

Like a regular human, Joshua was terrified of the future and the huge responsibilities placed on his shoulders that would come with the new assignment but God promised him and admonished him, just like He is admonishing us today.

In Joshua 1:9, it is written:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and be of good courage (courageous). Do not be terrified. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Note His words: Command. Strong. Courageous. Terrified. Discouraged. Constant guidance.

Whatever you’re going through, the Almighty God is definitely with you. Even though, it might not seem so especially in times of despair, troubles, sufferings but He is ever there in the midst of all our life happenings.

If we can feel him in joy, why can’t we also experience him in sadness. He is always there.

He is commanding us today to be strong and courageous, he is telling us to let go of all our fears, discouragement for he is with us wherever we go.

Trust Him completely and believe He is in charge. In good time, you will understand why you had to go through all you did.

Liken yourself to a diamond that has to undergo intense stress to come out exceptionally beautiful.

I wish you a very glorious Sunday and a fabulous week ahead. Start it right by starting with God. Good morning.

Saturday Motivation: Breathing life into your dreams

Dreams are free but it costs so much to make them a reality and that’s where goals come in.

A goal is an objective, a purpose and a mission.

Some people just have dreams; their imaginations are wild and they think of all the wonderful things they can be. That is very okay but without putting these dreams in motion, it’s just another exaggerated thought. You have to make plans, make sacrifices and set things in place inorder to accomplish your dreams.

Goals. Having goals are what makes your dreams come to life. It’s pretty simple. Whatever your dream is, look for possible ways to bring it out of your mind and bring it to the world. Take the bold step and let go of your inhibitions.

It’s just like saying you want to be a world class actress and everyday you reassure yourself of that, but you never work on it. No acting classes. No auditions. No coaching. No planning. You just sit at home and pet yourself with your dreams, sorry to shock you darling but you might just die with your dream which should have otherwise blessed the world.

Like award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o said; no matter where you are, no matter what you do. Your dreams are valid!

Oh Yes, they are valid but you need to breathe life into them to stand out and make a difference. And also dream bigger!

Let everything you do each day take you closer to actualizing your dreams and accomplishing your goals.
It’s the weekend that we’ve all being waiting for. Be sure to have fun with whatever you find yourself doing. Have a wonderful one. Good morning people.

Love Always… M.

Friday Motivation: You are enough

I woke up feeling empty!

But that didn’t last for long because I knew exactly what to do to pump up myself.
I reminded myself of how awesome I am, how today is another beautiful day to get things right and how happiness is in my hands.

So, I decided to be happy and enjoy what my day has to offer.

You know, I’ve come to realize that you decide what type of day you’re going to have; every morning you wake up, you decide to be happy. Don’t just leave your day in the hands of people, circumstances or the turn of events that will follow. Be in charge and set the right pace for the day.

We might be facing what seems too big for us to handle, we might be at the end of our ropes, we might not be ‘feeling life’ at the moment or just simply tired of everything.

But I’m reminding you today that you are good enough..

Stop worrying if you’re cool enough, strong enough, rich enough or smart enough. The most important thing is that you are enough.

Worrying only robs and deprives us of today, it doesn’t make tomorrow any better either. So stop it!

Take a deep breath now and know that you are enough.

Have a funfilled Friday as you prepare for the weekend.

Thursday Motivation: Staying focused and directing your energy

Staying focused….the postage stamp way!

Even though, it is out of use due to the advent of social media technology, the postage stamp then had only one job to do and it did it exceptionally well.

Normally employed to send letters across cities, states and countries, the postage stamp does not try to accomplish any other goal except for the one that was assigned to it. It has laser focus. It will not sleep until it finishes its one job.

What about you?

In life, you get what you focus on. This rule applies to every endeavor in your life whether it’s starting a business, getting customers, starting a relationship, getting a loan, investors, or wanting to get married, where your attention goes, energy flows. What you focus on, expands.

Why is this important?

Because ultimately, your focus drives everything you do. It drives your thoughts, which leads to your feelings and emotions which determine how you will live your life.
If you focus on negative things, you are unwittingly inviting negativity into your life.

You will notice that when you focus on the negative things in your life, more negative things will occur so you can focus on them. That’s how it works. You get in life what you focus on. If you focus on pain, more painful things will happen so you can continue to focus on it.

But, thank goodness, the opposite is also true. If you focus on the positive things in life, you will find more positive things happening to and around you.

If you focus on happy times, joy, love and the good times, invariably your life becomes easier and enjoyable irrespective of the things going on around you.

It’s just the natural flow of things.

Remember also that success comes not by doing something occasionally but by doing it consistently and this means focus.
Focusing on that which drives you, getting a mission and living it, every hour of every day.

Dont be the jack of all trades, master of none.

Concentrate on one thing and master your art till there is no one that can do it better than you. The aim is not to be first, but to stand out and be the best.

This, you can only achieve by concentrating on your focus. Wherever you direct your attention to, energy flows in abundance.

Have a beautiful Thursday, filled with sunshine and hope for a new beginning. Good morning people.

Love Always… M.

Wednesday Motivation: Making your actions louder

Can you pour out from an empty cup? Can you give someone what you don’t have? What message are your actions passing across?

Your actions are your powerful thoughts, so if you do not treat yourself with respect, you are emitting a signal that is saying you are not important enough, worthy enough or deserving.

That signal will continue to be broadcast and you will experience more situations of people mistreating you, and it’s entirely your fault, nor theirs!

Remember, you are totally responsible for your life, you alone! Every other person is just a spectator. Whatever you give them to watch, is what they will watch and remember you for.

The people are just the effect. Your thoughts are the cause. Remember the law of cause and effect?

Hence, you must begin to treat yourself with love and respect and emit that signal to get on the right frequency.

Then the law of attraction will come into action and your life will be full of people who genuinely love and respect you.

Today is another chance to get it right, irrespective of how it has been in the past.

Goodluck on your journey to getting it right!

Top of the morning to you all, have a fantastic day.

Love Always… M.

Tuesday Motivation: Playing with your Natural Born Abilities

Natural Born Abilities (NBA), are those special qualities that distinctinctly set you apart from the next person.

There is so much unlimited wonder and magnificence that awaits you if you can just let go and let it into your life.

The Universe cannot express itself through you if you are busy with your little life plans.

Understand that there is a huge difference between inspired action and busying yourself with activity in order to make things happen. That is why everything is hard, feels like a struggle and is unproductive.

You feel exhausted, things begin to wrong and you start nurturing the thoughts that the universe is working against you. Well, maybe it is! Because you are obviously wasting precious time on things that are not for you.

You dwell in this illusion that you’ve created for yourself but guess what, sooner or later, reality sets in and stares you blank in the face. And if you’re not careful, you wallow into self-pity and start the blame game. ‘Why me’?!

Yes, it is you because you failed to be conscious about your efforts. You failed to critically understand what you want or the working process. You neglected your Natural born abilities and got carried away, you failed to make plans. You forgot to check if that particular things suits your personality. Heck, you forgot to put yourself first. So, that’s why it is you!

Although, we can all prevent that when we choose to become intentional about our life. Let every single thing you do have a useful meaning to it and if it doesn’t, then it’s not worth doing.

If it doesn’t motivate, entertain, educate and you (or provide for you) and those around you, then you need to have a rethink.

You can’t just jump into everything you see. Because it’s working for your neighbour doesn’t mean it will work for you. Because your friend is flourishing in that line, you want to join in too.
Everybody has -maybe not- an equal opportunity but a good shot at it in life so use yours wisely with purposeful intent.

It’s never to late to retrace your steps and start being intentional so that you will put yourself in the right position for the universe to express its big plans through you.

Happy restructuring your life.
Good morning and have a most fruitful day.

Love Always.. M.

Monday Motivation: Pressing on, another secret of success

The future rewards those who press on. I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I am going to press on ~ Barack Obama.

There is one common trait among successful people, they persevered, they pressed on despite the unfavourable circumstances they found themselves in, the difficulties/setbacks they experienced or the dwindling times they found themselves in.

At every point, they kept it going! Never backing down or allocating precious time to feel sorry for themselves and so should you!

We are all familiar with the history of former US president, Barack Obama who defiled all odds as a black person to become the number one citizen of one of the most powerful countries in the world, making history to be the first black president of the cointry. You can just imagine how that journey was, but because he pressed on, the future rewarded him.

That is one of the many life examples there are. Choose what you want to do today; wallowing in self-pity or picking yourself up and continuing on the tough journey?

It’s never on a platter of gold. You’ve gotta work and stay on top of your game to earn it. Don’t let anything weigh you down to the extent that you give up.

Always have it in mind that if you persevere and continue, the future would have no other choice than to reward your efforts, unless maybe you want to remain mediocre.

Your failures, difficulties, setbacks, all what nots, should encourage you further to press on, rather than give up.

Be determined because you’re no ordinary human, you are special! And in no time, your breakthrough will come.

Oh happy day! Good morning people, welcome to another glorious week, keep smashing it!

Love Always… M.

Sunday Inspiration: The essence of Gratitude

Gratitude, according to the Oxford dictionary is defined as a state of recognizing the importance of a source of pleasure.

What are you grateful for? What gives you pleasure? What is the source of your happiness? How did it come about? Think thoroughly within yourself and search the numerous things which you have neglected or taken for granted all this while.

Have you been appreciative enough to your creator?

1 chronicles 16: 34 says:

O Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Some other versions of the Bible replaces love for mercy but in all, the message is pretty clear.

We are forever at God’s mercy and pleading for more, why don’t we also take a break from asking and just thank him instead.

When we appreciate or praise our family, friends, colleagues or just random people we come across, we notice the wonderful effect it creates which in turn brings us joy, then how much more God.

God is no man, that’s settled! But just imagine all the fantastic things that can happen to us if we constantly thank him.

His mercy, His love lasts forever and He will surely rain it down on us.

As we begin a new week, approach God with praise and Thanksgiving as against the usual requests, then wait for things to start manifesting.

Happy Sunday people. Have a blessed day!

Love Always… M.

Happy September people!

Welcome to the ninth month of the year.

Can you imagine you survived eight months already? How dare you be hard on yourself?! Nah, it’s unacceptable!

Whatever happened previously doesn’t matter, what matters is that you’re very fortunate to witness the month of September in all its splendour. Be grateful!

I’ve always encouraged you to celebrate your journey and coming all the way from January to September is one hell’a journey, so celebrate it. Today is not the day to be grumpy or downtrodden, get over yourself and be freaking happy. At least, all the stuff that didn’t consume you in the last months obviously made you stronger, so you’re entering this month, a conqueror like the undefeated Hercules.

As we begin, I want us to keep some things in mind, so that this month will end on a grand note. It’s just starting but you already know about those who fail to plan, yeah? Don’t be caught off-guard.

In order to make September a month to remember, we should endeavour to do the following listed below:

S – Smile, set new goals and smash them

E – Embrace your fears

P – Priotize every single thing in your life

T – Tackle your problems

E – Excel in your chosen field

M – Make it memorable

B – Be accountable

E – Entertain yourself

R – Remain consistent

I’m putting this in a place where I can see it everyday to act as a reminder. You should too so that by the end of the year, we would happily count our blessings and be genuinely happy for them.

Welcome to the beautiful month of September, may all you ever hope for come to fulfillment. Happy happy new month.

Thursday Motivation: What matters most

What do you do when you’re no longer feeling it anymore?

When you don’t have the zeal to put in extra work?

When nothing seems to be working or when your effort is amounting to nothing?

When all the pep talks you know ain’t giving you the push?

‘Be consistent’. They say!

‘Show up every single day. Don’t stop what you’re doing. Stay motivated’. They all advise.

But mehn, it’s freaking hard!

I say it because I know and I’ve been there. I still ‘go’ there occasionally.

But one thing that have been able to keep me going is a good support system.

A handful of people that strongly believe in me and my abilities even when I’m not sure about myself. They give me reasons to continue asides the knowledge of people I’d be disappointing if I don’t show up.

There are many things to this life and we can only do the best we can in the best way possible!

Close your mind to the negativity, shut your eyes to the competition. Pay no heed to either of them. Learn to be your own motivation and keep going.

Someone once said, if you are tempted to give up, remember why you started in the first place. I tell you, sometimes, those reasons ain’t enough to get you back on track. You need more!

Just find what works for you. It can be prayers to the Almighty. It might be looking back on your past achievements. It can be a good support system. It might be taking it easy on yourself. It can be taking a complete break. It can be feeding your guilty pleasures.

It can be so many other things! Just find what works for you and use it whenever that feeling overwhelms you.

Nobody has it easy, it’s just how we carry ourselves that counts.

But by all means, keep going.

Good morning people. It’s another lovely Thursday and a very long weekend begins hitherto. I wish you the very best of it.

Have a swell time.

Love Always.. M.

Wednesday Motivation: 5 habits you need to get rid off to become successful in life

What do you mean by a “successful life”?

Many people talk about having a successful life, but what do you mean by a successful life? Is it all about having luxury?

There are lots of factors to be considered in judging whether a person is successful or not.

Every person has their unique personality traits and habits. Some of the habits are good, some of the habits are bad.

To have a successful life, we should never hesitate to learn and rid ourselves of our bad habits.

Such bad habits like these ones listed below, which have been hindering/stalling your success.

1. Get rid of your unhealthy lifestyle

To ensure a healthy lifestyle, you need to focus on two major things — healthy diet and physical activity.

Without a healthy body, you cannot even imagine having a successful life. No matter how much money you have, you won’t be able to remain happy without good health. Hence, you need to research and choose the best diet plan for you. Be informed about health and nutrition as well as engage in physical workouts.

2. Don’t have a short-term mindset

In today’s generation, people want to have everything quickly. They are always in a hurry. Because of this habit, many people have developed a short-term mindset. Most of these people have no long-term goals in their life. If we look at great achievers, they always had a long-term vision in their minds. Every action taken by those people was motivated by their long-term goals.

If you want to be a success, give up on your short-term mindset. Start developing long-term goals.

3. Stop making excuses

There are people who always blame others for their failures. If they don’t have someone else to blame, they blame external factors like luck. Well, if you want to be a successful person, then stop making excuses. Stop blaming others and don’t blame Lady Luck either. You are responsible for your actions.

When you start to take responsibilities for your own actions, you will start to grow as a person which ultimately will lead to a successful life.

4. Don’t be too dependent on social media and television

Do you get paid for watching too much TV or posting too much on social media? If you’re not paid, then avoid television and social media. Studies show that social media is highly addictive which could also lead to other substance addiction.

I’m not trying to say that you should completely give up watching TV and posting on social media. I’m saying that you should avoid pouring too many of your hours into them. Instead, utilize that time to enrich your knowledge and skills.

5. Don’t try to control everything that goes around you

Some people try too hard to change everything. Instead of change, it brings stress in their life. Understand the things you can change and the things you need to leave alone. Adjust your behavior accordingly. Stay away from the things you are not able to control. Only focus on the things you can change.

This will help to reduce your stress, and reduction of stress will lead to relaxation.

Everyone wants to be a successful person, but only a few succeed in their life. It is because some people just don’t want to change, whereas some people are very flexible to change. The people who are humble enough to keep on learning by giving up their ego are the ones who are very successful in their life. Once again, I’m reminding you that success is not only about earning lots of money. It is about having a wonderful and satisfied life.

Once you permanently give up all the bad habits mentioned above, you will be on your way to a very successful life. It will be hard in the beginning but keep putting in the effort, and at the right time, you will reap the fruits of your hard works.

Don’t quit early.

It’s a beautiful Wednesday morning, time to kick it off and get moving. Have a wonderful day as you begin your journey to a successful life.

Love Always… M.

Tuesday Motivation: Living in the moment

We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a degree and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, house, car and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is, for us to be alive ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

You might want to read that again, let it sink in.

In as much as we’re aiming for greatness and everything that comes with it, we should not forget to live life for the moment, the present moment which you can’t recover anymore.

Life is so fleeting and ironic, so never miss an opportunity to experience it to the fullest. All the sacrifices you’re making to get what you want will eventually pay off but in the meantime, enjoy what life has to offer.

Don’t sacrifice so much that you forget to live in the moment.

This doesn’t in any way mean you should not live or plan for the future, nah, not at all! You still have to do what you gotta do.

Make plans, sacrifice what you can, work very hard BUT don’t loose yourself in the process.

Have you even thought of death? Some people toil so hard and when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of their labour, death comes calling and viola, there goes all the accomplishments.

It will be sadder if that person had saved living his life for when he finally ‘makes it’.

Besides death, there is the natural process of our bodies giving up on us.

It’s not really a difficult thing to do, you just have to create a balance and remember to live for the present moment.

Treat yourself right. Learn whatever you have been itching to learn. Go dancing. Hang out with friends. Keep in touch with family members. Do something for fun and feel no regrets. Tick off most things in your ‘bucket list’. Be happy. Nurture your relationship. Fall in love.

There will always be things to chase…and success will find you easily if you got your act together already.

It’s such a lovely day to be alive. Have fun doing the things you love, without forgetting to live in the moment. Good morning.

Love Always… M.

Monday Motivation: Embarking on the success journey

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do ~ Pele.

Success is no accident!

To be successful, you have to work. It doesn’t just happen neither is it magic. You have to put in the mixture of dedication, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, acceptance, rejection, all combined with hardwork because the road to success is not all-round smooth. You need these tools to embark on the journey and emerge safely as a winner.

During the journey, you will be tempted to give up, to abandon the passion you hold dear and just forget about it but let me tell you something, it is worse to regret but only difficult to wait. Never ever give up on something you love.

In the midst of the suffering, there is a simple physical therapy that works for me which I will be sharing with you today. You can write it down to act as a necessary wakeup call. Here it goes:

Put your hands on your heart, pause and feel the warmth. Breath deeply in and out. Speak these words to yourself out loud – “This is a moment of suffering, suffering is a part of life. May I be kind to myself in this moment. May I give myself the compassion I need”.

This will help you continue on the path to success and when you encounter any difficulty that is threatening your peace of mind, just read the above and be well on your journey.

Desiring success is one thing, putting in hardwork is another thing and continuing on the journey despite the storms of life is a whole different thing altogether. Learn to effectively navigate around all these.

I wish you the very best on this success path. Don’t lose hope, don’t deter. Most importantly, never give up. Little drops amount to an ocean, it’s just a matter of time and if you can survive this, then, there would be no stopping you.

It’s the beginning of the last week of the month. Time to reflect and see how you can end this August on a successful slate. Happy Monday.

Love Always… M.

Sunday Inspiration: The beauty of hoping in God

….soaring on Eagle’s wings…

Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.
By default, we humans live by way of hope.

We hope to wake up in the morning, we hope to eat, work, achieve, rest, we hope to be better, we hope to succeed. We hope every second and minute of our lives. Most times, hope is what gets us through the day, when all seems bleak.

And because we can’t do it on our own, God is reassuring us, as always that all those who put their hope in him will soar on Eagle’s wings, without fear or worry.

It says in Isaiah 40:28-31:

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting the Creator, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
29but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

I especially love this verse because it talks about the awesomeness of God and Him providing us COMFORT.

Isn’t that what we all desire? Comfort!

Sometimes, we are too tired or grow weary because of life’s challenges, frustrations, difficulties and disappointments of life but by hoping in the Lord, we will always have our strengths renewed and our weaknesses squashed.

Who would you rather hope on? God is the ultimate and never fails. His words always, always come to pass.

Good morning beautiful people. Have a blessed day.

Love Always… M.

Saturday Motivation: Successful people and weekends

Everybody is crazy about weekends because it’s the only time to rest after a rigorous working week. But unfortunately, some of us don’t get to enjoy the rest as we please because probably, we didn’t plan our free time wisely, so many things to do or extra work (overtime). But then again, maybe it’s because we’ve not achieved what we so desire.

But how about knowing what successful people do during weekends? Maybe you can take a cue from that, to help you better utilize your weekend.

Sometime during the week, i came across a piece which piqued my interest. The headline of the short piece read, ‘What successful people do during weekends’.

Have you ever wondered how successful people spend their weekends? The likes of Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Folorunsho Alakija, Tony Elumelu?

Well, I have always wondered because it can’t be work althrough for them, even though the hardwork never really ends but at least, they must have the luxury of relaxation. Heck, they deserve it!

Like I was saying, I found the piece interesting and I’m going to share it with you, because we all desire to be successful, so an insight into what successful people do during the weekends might spur us on.

It will also give you new ideas on how to utilize your weekends (or nah).

And probably the saying ‘Act that which you want to become’ will come into play here. Without much ado, these are the things/activities successful people do during the weekends.

  1. They read for leisure
  2.  They spend time with their family to make sure each of them feel loved
  3. They exercise to ensure a healthy body to enjoy life
  4. They pursue other things that interest them as work isn’t the only aspect of their lives
  5. They eat well to reward themselves
  6. They sleep earlier to rest their body and mind
  7. They learn something new to stimulate their thoughts
  8. They go to nature to appreciate the beauty of the world
  9. They disconnect and spend some time alone.

That’s all…

So, what do you think? Not much right? I feel anybody can even spend their weekends as listed above, despite of being successful or not.

Anyways, weekends are great but spend them wisely do that they will count! Not after anticipating it from the beginning of the week, and it comes and zooms like that.

Enjoy your Saturday to the fullest people, you deserve it. Remember to take care of yourselves also and nurture your spirits.

Love Always… M.
